Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups tart cherry concentrate (100% tart cherries)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup frozen dark cherries or fresh cherries
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne powder

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan or non-stick frying pan, combine the tart cherry juice with the sugar and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium-heat.
  • Lower temperature to medium-low and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes until syrup starts thickening and achieve the right consistency. At this stage the syrup should coat the spoon or spatula.
  • Add the frozen cherries, cinnamon, ginger and cayenne pepper and simmer for 2 to 3 more minutes.
  • Remove and cool to room temperature.
  • Use immediately or store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
